Dragon Language Absorbing a Dragon's Soul Some of these Dragon Shouts will be found in certain dungeons within Skyrim and others can be learned from characters that already know them. While several other characters in the game are capable of using the dragon shouts, the player character is the only known Dovahkiin during the events of Skyrim, and is uniquely capable of learning Words of Power with ease and instantaneously unlocking their use by absorbing the souls of slain dragons with no effort (whereas non-Dragonborn characters would have to spend decades learning Shouts). The player, being a Dovahkiin, or Dragonborn in English, can recite several of these dragon shouts that have magical effects. In practice, they are essentially powerful spoken spells that have different effects. Dragon Shouts, known as Dovahzaan in the Dragon Language, are ancient words of power in the fictional Dragon Language in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
